EMI MATSUMAE

Emi Matsumae, born and raised in Austin, TX, embarked on her dance journey at age 6 with The DanceWorks. Joining the competitive team in 2014, she honed her skills before transitioning to Evolve Dance Company in 2017, where she received extensive training and scholarships. In 2018, she transitioned and became involved in her high school’s drill team, Tiger Dancers. There, she progressed from a Rookie to a 2nd Lieutenant, beginning her choreography and instructing career. She has choreographed many solos, small groups, large groups, and class combos as a line officer. Additionally, she was in Jazz Co. and Funky Co., specialty performance groups within Tiger Dancers. Outside of studio and drill team dance, she has danced for The Dance Project ATX, a collaborative non-profit, performing in their 2019 showcase. At Pace University, Emi is pursuing a double major in Digital Marketing and Business Analytics as part of the BBA program. She intends to apply for the combined degree program to obtain an MS in Social Media Mobile Marketing. Currently, she is the President of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences) and the Vice President of AMA (American Marketing Association). She has been a Residential Assistant and EdMedia Student Technician for 2 years. As a creative outlet, Emi has been an active member of The Collective for 3 years, where she has taught classes and choreographed for their spring showcase.
